FutureTown

FutureTown is an imaginary city somewhere in europe or north america. It's built to be eco-friendly and uses new technology to be the best town for it's inhabitants.

The city

The city has like many other cities both towerblocks, houses, industrial areas, hospitals and offices. One can travel between different urban districts with metropolital railway or within the district on bike. Transport by car is possible but the infrastructure is designed to suit greener ways of transportation, making it easier to use the metro.

Homes

All homes, both apartments and houses are extremely well insulated and uses highly efficient heating systems, mostly a combination of solar and geothermal heat. On all roofs either flat or turned the right way additional power is often generated by PV panels (electric solar panels) to give all homes an amount of locally produced electricity. Thanks to this the load on the electrical grid is lowered.

Factories

Factories may not pollute. End. Therefor all factories has huge cleaning systems instread of chimneys.

Transportation

Transports are made by electric cars, recharged at home over night.

The E-Up! from Volkswagen is a typical car of FutureTown. It's electric, small and designed to be as flexible and spacious on the inside as possible.

Longer travel are made by train and in the back of all trains is a parking space for cars thus allowing people to travel by car a lot longer than the vechicles range on one charge.

Electricity

The amount of electricity that still need to be "imported" from outside town come from large wind turbine farms and solar plants.

The electricity is transported to the city in large cables just as of today, but with a twist. Wind turbines inside the large pylons that keep the wires up.
